Melanie Walters Chatagnier

Melanie Walters Chatagnier is originally from Delhi, Louisiana and graduated from ULM at Monroe with a B.S. in Psychology in 1999. She is a 2004 graduate of L.S.U. Paul M. Hebert School of Law, where she received both a Juris Doctorate and a Bachelor of Civil Law.

Following her admittance to the Louisiana Bar, she worked in Baton Rouge until 2013 as in house family counsel for the distinguished firm of Manasseh, Gill, Knipe & Belanger. In 2013 she moved to Thibodaux with her husband, Jason. Melanie handles exclusively family law cases. These include divorce, child custody and support, spousal support, property settlements, adoptions, pre-nuptial agreements, QDROs for retirement accounts and dissolution of civil unions.

She is an active member of the Baton Rouge, Lafourche and Louisiana State Bar Associations. Prior to moving to Thibodaux, Melanie was very involved with the Family Law Section of the Baton Rouge Bar Association, serving first as secretary, then chair-elect. Each year, she donates numerous hours to pro-bono cases and is also involved in the Holiday Star Project.

The Chatagniers are active in their community and enjoy spending time with their 3 children.
